The x-axis of this graph is the average number of years of education that women of child bearing age while and the y-axis of this graph is the number of children per woman of child bearing age. Both of this label were chosen because school of woman does correlate with the amount of children that they bear. Women with more education on average have less children than woman with more education. Because women in France receive a little less than 12 years of education on average, they only have about 2 children each on average.

Demographic Transition Model
France is currently in stage 4 of the Demographic Transition Model, this stage is characterized by low birth rates and low death rates. Countries in stage 4 are normally more developed countries that have low have low birth rates due to the education and high status of woman. The chart above shows that women in this country on average receive a little under 12 years of education, which is very high compared to most countries. High years of education for women correlates with low birth rates. France is a very high developed country which has great health care programs . Thus, it can be concluded that France also has low death rate.
