The x-axis of this graph is the average number of years of education that women of child bearing age while and the y-axis of this graph is the number of children per woman of child bearing age. Both of this label were chosen because school of woman does correlate with the amount of children that they bear. Women with more education on average have less children than woman with more education. Because women in Ivory Coast receive only 3.5 years of education on average, they each have a little about 5 children each on average.

Ivory Coast is currently in stage 3 of the Demographic Transition Model, this is characterized by declining birthrates, low death rates, and a decreasing rate of natural Increase. This is common for developing countries such as Ivory Coast which have high births rates begin to decrease due to more education and increasing status of women in society. Developing countries also have low death rates to improvements in medical care, water supplies, and sanitation.
