- Thoughts/emotions/observations : From this article I sensed the disunity of the country over this issue. This issue of Nationality in Ivory Coast has caused resentment with Ivoirians as new immigrant continue to come. I also found it suspicious that the current 74 year old president wanted to extend the limit age for a president past 75. - Well-written paragraph describing how this article ties in to the political life of the country. How is the event / practice in the article important to politics in this country ? This article is describing a major change in the institution of government in Ivory Coast. It also shows how fragile and malleable this young country is to have a constitution changed simply for the benefit of a president currently in power. This new constitution may change the balance of power in the country by giving the president too much power. One thing that is certain is that it will not bring unity to he country anytime soon.
